Southern Region SHINES at 2008 Boulé!

Walking away with 3 awards, the “smallest” region puts a BIG stamp on this year’s Boulé! With a 32% percent increase in membership over the past two years, the Southern Region takes home the top membership honor. In addition, we snagged 3rd place in chapters chartered (Sigma Chapter of Knoxville and Chi Chapter of Nashville) over the same time span. These accomplishments are all due to the diligent, unwavering efforts of our Southern Region Director, Soror Mary C. Williams Hardrick, who also received top honors with the Outstanding Dedication and Service Award from our Supreme Basileus, Soror Patricia A. Daniels.

Lastly, but certainly not least, Chi Chapter chooses 2008-2010 National Theme! The call went out to chapters all across the nation to submit their suggestions for our new National Theme. Our submission, which encompasses the true essence of our glorious sisterhood, was voted to be our 2008-2010 National Theme. The new theme will be officially revealed at the start of the sorority year in September.

Chi Chapter’s 1st Young Artist Award!

Alexis Harris, a senior at Maplewood High School, was honored with the 2008 Young Artist Award by Chi Chapter. Holding the honor of being the chapter’s first Young Artist Award recipient, Alexis was clearly moved during the presentation ceremony stating: “I couldn’t have done it without Ms. Snider, my art teacher. She believed in me.”

Alexis is the second-oldest of 13 children. After graduation, she plans to attend Stanford University, majoring in molecular biochemistry. She hopes to be a positive role model for her younger brothers and sisters, showing them, through her actions, that they can be anything they choose to be. Chi Chapter will present the Young Artist Award annually to a deserving area youth who shows exceptional talent in the areas of visual and/or performing arts.
